Abstract:
INTRODUCTION This database has been created for the Auckland Regional Council, and is not for unauthorised use. See also KAIPARA HARBOUR DATABASE 2. Sources searched include LINZ (New Zealand placenames website), NIWAcat, (the NIWA Library database), Te Puna, Index New Zealand, Web of Science, Scopus, ASFA (Aquatic Scientific and Fisheries Abstracts), and NIWA's internal sources for client reports, fisheries reports, and NIWA staff publications. To see the source of a reference see the 'NAME OF DATABASE' field. Each source was mainly searched by keyword on 'KAIPARA' or 'KAIPARA HARBOUR' OR 'KAIPARA RIVER'. A placename search was also carried out to pick up references for localities in the Kaipara District. (See the NOTES field below for actual placenames) To facilitate grouping one of the following topics has been assigned to each reference: FISHERIES, MARINE ECOLOGY, FRESHWATER, CATCHMENT LAND USE, NATURAL RESOURCES, LAND - SOILS & GEOLOGY, CURRENT PROJECTS, COMPLETED PROJECTS (recorded in the Custom 1 field as 'Main Topic'). A saved search has been created for each 'Group'. e.g. to find all references under 'FISHERIES' 1. click on REFERENCES, SEARCH REFERENCES, LOAD SEARCH. 2. Select FISHERIES SEARCH, and SEARCH. Many of the references will have two or more of these, but this will not affect grouping. However, some references (such as maps) have been left blank as they fall outside these categories. To display the references to best advantage, or to create bibliographies, use the style called 'Kaipara Harbour'. Alternatively, use the option 'SHOW ALL' which will display all fields containing data. Where possible pdfs and Word and text files have been linked to references. The path to the pdf displays in the 'Kaipara Harbour' style. If the Kaipara Harbour DB1 file is moved to another location, these files should be also be moved.
