Report 

This survey of oxidation ponds in the Auckland Region was undertaken as part of a programme to gain knowledge of the behaviour of oxidation ponds under different seasonal and applied loading conditions. It was hoped as a result of this investigation that recommendations on the siting, design and operation of oxidation ponds could be made so that optimum performance of pond systems, present and future could be achieved. While only sixteen months data on pond behaviour has been gained on most pond systems, two autumn periods were fully covered. Autumn has been a time when problems with pond behaviour have occurred in the past. Changes associated with a decline in blue-green algal populations have been noted
