Abstract:
Includes Marsden's travels to the Kaipara where he was entertained by Te Kawau, the Ngati Whatua chief. He was determined to travel from Manukau Harbour to the Bay of Islands, and he was advised that the most satisfactory route was through the Kaipara adn the Northern Wairoa RIver to Mangakahia. Contains many references to Kaipara, Kaipara Harbour and Kaipara River, which can be located through the index.
