Abstract:
Includes a description of the Kaipara region and its inhabitatnts in 1820. Rev. John Butler accompanies Rev. Samuel Marsden where they describe a landscape adn a people largely untouched by Europeans. This was uncertain times for the people of the Kaipara as the Ngapuhi were beginning incursions, which came to a head in 1825 at the battle of Te Ika a Ranganui.
